Excellent book!!!! For those who did not have the pleasure have having someone in there life to guide and teach about process, this is an excellent book. I recommend it to anybody who does not know the art of process.

The author says it himself; this book does not present any groundbreaking truths previously unknown, but simply elaborates and clearly presents some essential truths about life that will help you get free of stress and anxiety and help you start actually enjoying your life and move it in the direction you choose.
If there is one takeaway from this book, it is that one should focus on the present and the process of doing something and keep that in mind rather than goal itself, which one should use only to provide direction for that process.
That being said, this book is a great, fast and enjoyable read and the repetition of the theme does not detract from its importance or clarity. I highly recommend it.

I am presently reading through the book a sixth consecutive time in just a couple months. The perspective and tips it affords those patient and humble enough to listen and learn are life-changing.

Yes, the writing style at times is a bit clumsy - you may have to re-read a sentence or two now and again to figure out what is being said. But you should get past that soon enough. The style may be clumsy, but I believe it is all grammatically correct.

One can begin to realize the benefits of the teaching in this book upon the first read - greater equanimity, efficiency, effectiveness, happiness. I find that I need to regularly expose myself (don't take this out of context please!) to the truths in the text so that I might make them part of my life on a daily basis.

I just really can't say enough good things about this book. Buy it, read it with an open mind. If it doesn't "click" with you - pass it on to a friend or family member and it will probably "click" for them.

Highly recommended to those who are intentionally developing or crafting a skill (any skill) and for those who find that their ,ind moves at a much faster pace than they physically do. There's much to learn from this read.

This short book gives very simple techniques that have a huge effect on your life. If I had to sum up the message this book offered in one word, I would say it is "mindfulness". It is a skill we are not taught in our society, and since I read this book about a week ago, I have been practicing mindfulness in my own life. The techniques the author writes about are not difficult to understand, the challenge is implementing them in your life. If you choose to begin practicing the techniques offered, you will notice change in your mindset almost instantly

Great read! This book truly has inspired me to focus on and enjoy the process rather than only looking toward the end result. I'm inspirited to greater discipline and finding joy in the process or practice of life

I originally checked this book out from my local library. After reading through it the first time, I dicided I had to have a copy of my own to underline and write notes in. This is a great little book that's easy to read but packed with useful information for anyone wanting to bring a little discipline into their crazy, hectic life.

This is a very easy read! Teenagers in junior high or high school shouldn't have any trouble understanding the author's words of wisdom. This was a really important read for me because I make the mistake of being too goal oriented and not enjoying the road to those goals which is really just as important much of the time. The author lays everything out in a straight forward and simple way and even gives great advice for integrating this philosophy of thinking into everyday life. Highly Recommended!

A good book for getting 'behind' practicing. The author started the book as a music book, but then found the ideas had a broader scope than just the area of music practice. Enjoyed it, and tend to return to it often to apply the ideas to both my own musical journey and my career path.

What this book explains about thinking about (and enjoying) the practice and growth towards an objective, rather than on reaching the object, has been very helpful to me. I credit it with having gotten me through Calc III.

I read this book with great enthusiasm, agreeing with every point. Though I found it it somewhat repetitious, I hung there and found his recommendation to slow down your actions as a way to develop "the Practicing Mind" to be excellent. I waited eagerly for the rest of the techniques to be revealed until i came to location 1503 in the kindle version where the authors begins "In closing,..."
If i had paid $2.99 and read the 15 pages of real content, i would have given it 5 stars.

As the title says, this book has become a classic to me. I've never been one to enjoy practising for anything, I simply didn't enjoy not having masterd the subject. This book has given me a new insight into how and why I might enloy the learning proces.

I had my doubts during reading but actually found myself highlighting and trying to practice the practice! For the first time I am finding myself able let go of the end results that we obsess about. The secret is it is the process we need to focus on.

Pretty light reading. Nothing too chewy or hard to swallow, this book is helpful in realizing that life and work are about embracing and enjoying practice. The author uses his musical training to illustrate this idea of practice.

A fantastic and well written treatise on what it means to be truly present and how practicing mindfulness in our daily lives can improve our experience. Fans of the theory of Deliberate Practice will love this.

Brilliant book, we'll written and easy to understand without becoming condescending or clichéd. Contains a very simple framework for implementing deep changes in our approach to learning, goal-setting and discipline.

I just loved this book - it's a genuine description of how the author applied to his own life the principles that he preach in the book. And the examples are very illustrative and easy to understand.

Don't expect a very philosophical book, it doesn't go too deep - instead it's a more "hands-on" (so to speak) approach to understanding our mental behavior and how we can make sense of it and change it (and consequently change our lives).

This book changed my life and completely altered the way I look at everything and deal with problems. My only regret is that I did not happen upon this book earlier in my life as it would have definitely changed the course of my past. I have recommended this book to basically everyone I know who is going through tough situations or changes in their life.

This is probably the most life-changing book I have read in the last 5 years and on top of that I'm pretty sure I can actually implement this change in my life. The Practicing Mind is not about discipline as you know it; it's about being in the present moment in order to do, learn and enjoy. Whether you wonder how to learn, or how to meditate or how to live, this book is a wonderful little guide to the present moment and the treasures life holds.

The author shares his own experiences and lessons without teaching or blind guiding, I love that writing style.

The skills he has given of 4S(simplicity, short, slow, and small) are so pertinent to formulate any professional and I have found such good lesson also exemplified by many achieved men in other fields.

It is so readable and convenient to start from random page.

Thomas M. Sterner wrote a fabulous book about the power of mindfulness and acceptance. He asks us to separate emotion from our decisions so it is easier to see the answer. He describes the power of slowing down and paying attention to heighten our senses and gain time! Great examples and a great reference book to refer to when tough situations appear to get the best of us..

I have read countless self-help books, and gained much from many of them. However,it is rare when you find a diamond in the rough in such a concise, practical form. Mr Sterner does what many others set out to do and fall short. Namely, identify the issues and causes- BUT in this case, offer specific, immediate steps to take to apply the medicine. An outstanding tool in a small box.

This book provides a refreshing look at the value of stepping back from your tasks and considering how you are approaching them. It is a quick read but provides some real value, I marked several pages so that I can easily return to the points discussed. Worth the time.

This book is intensely profound. Thomas Sterner has written nothing short of a miracle. In respect to how small but powerful the book is, i will not write a long, arduous review. If you have tried several self-improvement books but still feel dissatisfied, then this book is for you. If there was such a thing as an ultimate self-development book, then this is it.
